Workplace respect & dignity policy

Newfoundland Diagnostics is committed to creating and maintaining a workplace where all employees are treated with respect and dignity. We recognize the importance of providing a safe and respectful work environment free from harsh, inhumane treatment, harassment, and discrimination. This policy outlines the company's approach to prevent and address any forms of inappropriate behaviour in the workplace.

1. Scope:
This policy applies to all employees of Newfoundland including full-
time, part-time, temporary, and contract staff, as well as volunteers, interns, and apprentices. It covers all aspects of employment, from recruitment and employment terms to conditions of work and termination.

2. Prohibition of Harsh and Inhumane Treatment:
Newfoundland strictly prohibits any form of harsh or inhumane treatment within the workplace. This includes but is not limited to physical abuse or discipline, mental or emotional abuse, verbal abuse, including shouting or use of offensive language, and any form of intimidation or bullying.

3. Procedures:

Reporting: Employees are encouraged to report any incidents or concerns of harsh or inhumane treatment to their immediate supervisor, Human Resources, or via the company's confidential reporting system.

Investigation: All reports will be investigated promptly and impartially, with respect to the confidentiality and privacy of all parties involved.

Action: Appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment, will be taken against individuals found to have engaged in such conduct.

4. Harassment and Discrimination:

Newfoundland is committed to a work environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity. Harassment and discrimination of any kind, including but not limited to that based on race, colour, religion, gender, age, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, pregnancy, or maternity, are expressly prohibited.

5. Procedures:

Prevention: Regular training sessions on diversity, equity, and inclusion will be conducted to educate employees and prevent incidents of harassment and discrimination.

Reporting: Employees who believe they have been harassed or discriminated against should report these incidents to their supervisor, Human Resources, or through the company's confidential reporting system.

Investigation: All complaints will be investigated promptly, thoroughly, and impartially, with respect for the privacy and confidentiality of all parties involved.

Resolution: The company will take appropriate action to stop any offending conduct and take corrective steps, including disciplinary action against those found to be responsible.

6. Responsibility and Enforcement:

All employees at Newfoundland are responsible for maintaining a respectful and dignified work environment. Leadership and management have a specific responsibility to act as role models and to address any behaviour that contradicts this policy. Violations of this policy will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

7. Policy Review and Updates:

This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as necessary to ensure that it continues to meet the needs of all employees and complies with all applicable laws and regulations.
