Equal opportunities policy

Newfoundland Diagnostics is committed to achieving a working environment which provides equality of opportunity and freedom from unlawful discrimination on the grounds of race, religion or belief, age, gender, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, national origin, or any other characteristic protected by law. This policy aims to remove any direct or indirect discrimination or victimization and promote full equality of opportunity in all of our activities. We are dedicated to promoting a
respectful and inclusive culture that values diversity and recognises the unique contributions of each individual.

Scope

This policy applies to all employees, contractors, volunteers, interns, and those under temporary contracts, as well as to job applicants and former employees. It covers all aspects of employment, from recruitment to termination and beyond, including job advertisement, selection, training, development, promotion, and conditions of work.

Objectives

To ensure that Newfoundland Diagnostics has access to the widest labour
market and secures the best employees for its needs.

To ensure that no applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment
and that wherever possible they are given the help they need to attain their
full potential to the benefit of the company and themselves.

To achieve an ability-based workforce which is in line with the working
population mix.

To ensure that all employees are aware of the contents of this policy and that they commit to its implementation and improvement.

Implementation

1. Recruitment and Selection: Procedures will be conducted objectively, and job requirements will be reflected accurately in the person specifications.
Selection criteria and processes will not discriminate unjustly on the grounds specified above.

2. Training and Development: All employees will be given appropriate access to training to enable them to progress within the organization. This policy will be considered during employee development and training activities.

3. Work Environment and Practices: Newfoundland Diagnostics will ensure that its policies, practices, and procedures are free from unlawful discrimination. We will maintain a working environment that respects individual differences and enables all employees to achieve their full potential.

4. Responsibilities: While the ultimate responsibility for achieving the policy's objectives, and for ensuring compliance with the relevant Acts of Parliament as well as the various Codes of Practice, lies with Newfoundland Diagnostics, all employees have a duty to act in accordance with the policy, ensuring equality of opportunity and non-discrimination.

5. Monitoring and Review: The effectiveness of our equal opportunities policy will be reviewed regularly in consultation with the relevant stakeholders and will be adjusted as necessary to ensure its objectives are achieved.

Complaints

Employees who believe they have been discriminated against under this policy should contact Freddie Jackson who is first point of contact for complaints. Complaints will be dealt with promptly, confidentially, and effectively.

Policy Review

This policy will be regularly reviewed to ensure it meets legal requirements and reflects best practices. Modifications to this policy will be communicated through standard communication channels.
